A New Star Wars Movie Already?

With 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, fans of the franchise were lead to believe that the "Star Wars Skywalker Saga" is complete. However, late on March 31 of 2021, Lucasfilm officially announced that a tenth installment to the saga will be arriving in December of 2025. Of course that is a few years down the line, but we already know a few details concerning the plot.

First, you're probably wondering why this film is even happening. It's no secret that The Rise of Skywalker was not well-received by many fans. That isn't to say it was completely disliked by fans, but Lucasfilm was probably hoping for better with their finale. Thus, we have episode 10 which according to president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, will "Tie the entire saga together." Kennedy went on to explain, "Each Star Wars trilogy has a beginning, a middle, and an end, but we realized that we really wanted to have an all encompassing ending for the entire Skywalker Saga."

If you're skeptical about this film, take comfort in knowing that George Lucas has signed on with Lucasfilm to write and executive produce episode 10. For a few months it has been rumored that Lucas would return to Star Wars and apparently this is it! George Lucas may not have had too much input on the sequel trilogy, but now that he is coming back for the finale, he will be able to finish the saga in a satisfying way that only its creator could. So far, we don't know much about his plans, but from the little he's said about the project, we can gather that it will deal with the reconstruction and reformation of the New Republic as well as the Jedi order.

If you're wondering about the cast, it has been confirmed that the core cast of the sequel trilogy will return (Rey, Finn, Poe). Of course, everyone's favorite droids (R2-D2, C3-PO, BB-8) will also be sticking around. In addition, Billy Dee Williams will return as Lando Calrissian. Many of the new characters introduced in The Rise of Skywalker will also return. If you didn't like the sequel cast though, there is no need to worry. Many prequels characters will surprisingly make appearances. These characters include, Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn, Hayden Christiansen as Anakin Skywalker, Ewan McGreggor as Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks. It is likely that many of the characters mentioned will appear as force ghosts, but surprisingly there is no confirmation that Yoda will appear at some point.

This movie seems like it has what it takes to be an amazing Star Wars finale. With George Lucas returning for the project, he is sure to be able to execute his vision for what the ending of the Star Wars Saga should be. However, it is important to note that this whole post has been an April Fools prank. Did we get you? Comment below and tell us whether or not this movie sounds like a good idea.
