Spider-Man 3 Has a Title And It Is Perfect
We have been patiently waiting a long time for the title reveal of the next Spider-Man movie. On Wednesday, February 25, we finally got what we have been waiting for when a video starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon hilariously revealed that the title will be Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now, we can only hope the movie lives up to the hype.
It is unusual for Marvel to hold off on releasing the title of their upcoming movies for so long after announcing it. The most notable instance of holding off on releasing the title was when the title of Avengers: Endgame was not even revealed until the trailer was released. However, it is not uncommon for Marvel to release the titles of their upcoming films many years in advance.
Regardless, we have the title now and it is possibly the darkest title they could have made including "home." That should tell us that although we most likely will experience the same kind of fun that the previous two Tom Holland Spider-Man films have given us, this movie will be a more mature take on the character. Especially as Peter is forced to grapple with the ramifications of Far From Home's mid-credits bomb shell.
We can also infer from this title that Peter will largely be on his own throughout the course of the movie. We know that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are returning to their roles as MJ and Ned respectively, but what we don't know is how they will be involved in the plot. It is possible that they could be secretly communicating with Peter throughout the story without actually being able to come into physical contact with him very often.
Of course, we must also address the rumors that this movie could connect to the multiverse. There are many rumors going around that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be returning to the big screen to reprise their respective versions of Spider-Man during this movie. While these rumors are being widely circulated, that does not mean they are true. However, there were rumors that Evan Peters would appear as Pietro Maximoff in WandaVision and that did end up being true, so strong rumors like this should not be easily discredited.
Although, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are not guaranteed a return for this movie, we have known for months that Jamie Fox will reprise his role as the Spidey villain, Electro. In addition, Alfred Molina will be returning as Doc Ock. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that they will be playing the same versions of their characters that they have played before. One reason for this is that we know that Jamie Fox's Electro will be sporting a new look in No Way Home and another reason is that both characters died in their respective movie universes.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is sure to be a hit regardless of what the plot has in store. The only downside is that we still have no trailer and the movie doesn't hit theaters until December. Until then, there will be many other fantastic movies and TV shows to keep us entertained.
